Restriping, or building a new layout
The first thing we ask is your operating hours, because scheduling around them is usually more valuable to you than anything else on this page. The second is this.
Restriping repaints the layout that already exists. That is the baseline.
A new layout means establishing square reference points and building from the buildings, sidewalks, curbing or whatever fixed structures the site gives us. It takes about twice as long, which is where the price difference comes from.
When a lot has been restriped so many times that the old markings have become confusing, we may recommend sealcoating and laying out fresh instead of adding another layer of paint. That costs more than a restripe, and we say it anyway.
What Meridian requires of a parking stall
Meridian is one of the few cities in the valley that publishes its stall dimensions in detail, and they change with the parking angle. Meridian Unified Development Code, Table 11-3C-5:

Compact stalls in Meridian are shorter, not narrower.
The code allows a two foot reduction in depth, making a compact stall nine feet wide by seventeen deep. It does not allow a narrower stall. Eagle does allow eight foot compact stalls, so a layout that works in Eagle will not necessarily pass here.
The Owner's Responsibility
The code puts responsibility on the property owner to ensure the parking design, the sidewalk and the access provisions meet ADA requirements, and to ensure the size and number of accessible spaces do too (Meridian City Code 11-3C-5 and 11-3C-6).
What the ADA actually requires
Notice that an accessible car space is eight feet wide minimum and a van space is eleven, while a standard Meridian stall is nine. Accessible stalls are not standard stalls with a symbol painted in them.

The Van Space Rule
One van space for every six, or fraction of six, required accessible spaces. Not one per six total spaces. A hundred stall lot needs four accessible spaces, one of them van accessible.
No Painted Symbol Required
The ADA requires a mounted sign and does not require a symbol painted on the pavement at all. Idaho Code 39-4116 does not allow a city to amend any accessibility provision, so the accessible parking rules in Meridian are identical to Nampa, Boise and Eagle.

When we find something out of compliance
Fully noncompliant stalls are uncommon. The problem we actually run into is different: the stall and the access aisle measure fine, and the sidewalk or curb ramp beside them does not comply and needs to be replaced.
When we see it, it goes in the estimate, you get told the existing condition may not comply, and if you want it corrected we quote that separately. We would rather tell you about work we were not hired for than stripe around it and let an inspector find it.
Numbered stalls & Stencils

Assigned parking is one of the most common sources of resident conflict in an apartment complex, and numbering the stalls is how a property manager makes it enforceable.
Fire lane curbing
Curb color is not uniform across the valley and the International Fire Code specifies no color at all. Meridian's parking ordinance defers to the fire code official on how a fire apparatus access road gets marked.
Before we mark a fire lane here we confirm the requirement with Meridian Fire rather than painting whatever the last contractor painted.

How much does parking lot striping cost in Meridian?

How long does the lot have to stay closed?
The paint is dry to the touch in about fifteen to twenty minutes. The layout takes longer than the drying, which is why we schedule around your hours and work in sections where the layout allows.
What size does Meridian require a parking stall to be?
Nine feet wide, with the depth set by the parking angle: nineteen feet at 45, 60 and 90 degrees, and twenty three feet for parallel parking. Meridian UDC Table 11-3C-5. Compact stalls can be two feet shorter but not narrower.
How many accessible parking spaces does my lot need?
It comes from ADA Table 208.2 and scales with the total. One space up to 25, two up to 50, three up to 75, four up to 100. One in every six required accessible spaces has to be van accessible.
Are accessible parking rules different in Meridian than in Nampa?
No. Idaho Code 39-4116 does not allow a city to amend any accessibility provision. Only the standard stall dimensions differ between cities, not the accessible ones.
Should we sealcoat before striping?
If the lot needs both, yes, and in that order. The sealcoat cures fully first, usually twenty four to forty eight hours depending on temperature, then the striping goes down on a clean surface.
Can you number the stalls in our apartment complex?
Yes. We did more than 150 of them at Heron Village here in Meridian. Numbering is priced per character.
